Stephanie Harnett, Wal-Mart's "reporter" spy
Wal-Mart is Americas biggest corporation. Its also one of the countrys worst union busters, so its hardly a surprise that it engages in under-handed tactics to get its way with its workers and with Americas politicians.
But a story out of Southern California is particularly shocking.
Stephanie Harnett, Wal-Mart's "reporter" spy
Warehouse Workers United (WWU), a new organization for warehouse workers in the area, caught Wal-Mart actually sending a fake reporter to spy on a group of workers trying to organize warehouses.
At first, the spy identified herself as Zoe Mitchell, a USC student interested in terrible and illegal conditions inside warehouses that move goods for Walmart. She told warehouse workers that she was a reporter looking into their plight.

(562 posts)and trying to wash the hands of their own mess. I suggest that we give Ms. Harnett a sagely advice of how her young career should go from there - as in quitting kissing up corporations and help the unemployed and the underemployed get what they need - a living wage.
Force Walmart to be the "leader" of it - bet they would be surprised if they do that. Costco is a perfect example - Costco, from what I hear, do pay a living wage of about $13/hour in some areas, higher in others, and give their employees benefits, time off, paid maternity leave, and all the comforts. I have never seen many Costco employees so friendly and happy.

The EPA has told The World-Herald that the practice is a legal and cost-effective method for policing clean water regulations that could be violated by animal waste runoff into waterways.
Still, Johanns said Thursday that the agency must provide a more detailed accounting of the flyovers to address concerns about the privacy of producers and the transparency of the agency.

(29 posts)Hey, you can't buy a CD with the word fuck on it, but they'll fuck their employees by spending money on lobbyist and politicians so they don't have to pay them a living wage. Gee, wouldn't it be more Christian to just use that money to pay the people who work for them enough to at least make ends meet??? They're spying on the opposition today, next it'll be any charismatic union organizer who looks like they might be successful will end up vanishing.
I understand that times are hard, but anyone who works for a company run like Walmart is a traitor to everyone fighting for decent, living wages in this country. WITHOUT LABOR THEY CANNOT MAKE MONEY - Wake up people!!!

(5,668 posts)which one was it they tweaked the title with Rape Me (nirvana) found that absurd. went to shopko in the , well about 97 or so and Phantasagoria was on the bottom shelf. basically today it would have been rated A. because it contains full frontal nudity. (that and her guts are ripped out while she's in bed. back when games bothered to piss off everyone nowadays most games have no fun.. all $50 game with DRM so bad it's impossible to play the game (which is why I switched to gog*com only place I'll bother buying game now. DRM free.... which includes both Postal 1 and 2 I went for Blood Rayne though... Walmart at least tries to look like they give a shit. (5,668 posts)knew a coworker who quit for awhile to work for a collections agency. thought she's way to nice to be in such a place. I was right , she didn't last a month before quiting that one. Problem is, it's not what on the outside that counts. ie I knew she was too nice to work there because I worked with her. yeah didn't totally get along but we got along well enough... So I see the above picture and it reminds me of her. Just thinking if people who really knew her thought she would do something like this. Or if Walmart did it intentionally to ruin her life..
