looking at trump, al gore's brag, supposedly claiming to have "invented" the internet seems quaint

al gore claimed to have done more than anyone in congress to help create the internet. he did *not* use the word "invent".

his brag was backed by the fact that, as senator, he sponsored and pushed legislation funding the internet from early days and also, as vice president, he pushed all corners of the government to put massive amounts of useful information online.

both of these were yuuuuuuuge contributions to making the internet what it is today.

but the supposedly "liberal press" kept harping on the republican lie that he claimed to have "invented" the internet, and obviously he wasn't one of the geeks who technically built it. somehow the massive contributions he made to the internet were more than undone by a single alleged over-brag. that and a heavy sigh was enough for the media to kill his political career.

now look at trump and the way the press handle the crap that comes from his mouth. oh, what will you entertain us with next, o donald! can you imagine if al gore or hillary any democrat had asked russia to break american laws for personal political gain?

but no, they press will call this a gaffe and let him get away with calling it "sarcastic" or a joke and move on. in contrast to how they refused to talk about gore's actual contributions to the internet, they will soon enough return the focus to the emails that trump wanted to keep in the media's attention.

the right-wing bias of the media is more than evident, and the lie of the "liberal" media is, in fact, clear evidence of its right-wing bias.

Chris Matthews had him on trying to explain what the internet was going to be. I did not understand what he was saying, nor did Matthews. He was clearly up on the information. For a long time after, Matthews would say that Gore was "like Johnny Jupiter with that stuff."

As we all know, Matthews became valuable to the GOP as one of the leaders in pushing forth the lie that Gore claimed to invent the internet.

Dean's raucous attempt at cheerleading his supporters was played on a loop for weeks, with pundits speculating that it somehow proved he didn't have the temperament to be president.

Now, Cheeto-Cheeks Tinyfingers does and says ten times worse every single day.

Claim: Vice-President Al Gore claimed during a news interview that he "invented" the Internet.

FALSE

Origins: Despite the derisive references that continue even today, former Vice-President Al Gore never claimed that he "invented" the Internet, nor did he say anything that could reasonably be interpreted that way. The "Al Gore said he 'invented' the Internet" put-downs were misleading, out-of-context distortions of something he said during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "Late Edition" program on 9 March 1999. When asked to describe what distinguished him from his challenger for the Democratic presidential nomination, Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey, Gore replied (in part):
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

perhaps he organized funding for it, perhaps he even had his people oversee project management of the building, but *he* certainly didn't break his back with the actual labor of building the buildings that bear his name.

the donald's statements are on a par with what al gore said about the internet.

where is the outrage? no one would dream of attacking him for statements like that.

but if a democrat says just about anything, they'll make fun of it forever.
