Swiss Ambassador appreciates a stable security situation in Libya

About two months after the death of the former Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi, the Swiss ambassador in Tripoli confident that the reconstruction of the country going forward. Despite the many weapons are in circulation, it is "surprisingly quiet," said Michel Gottret.

"The security situation is currently stable," Gottret said in an interview with the Swiss Radio DRS. From time to time you hear shots, but often if it were not for salutes and incidents.

Nevertheless, the disarmament of the rebels have high priority, said Gottret. On the positive side, the Swiss ambassador sees in this context that two important ministerial posts were occupied by former militia. In addition, there is an overall plan for disarmament.

But in order to implement the concept, it would take time and money. Thanks to the recently approved funding of this plan could go forward. "Time is short course," said Gottret. The schedule up to the elections was short - and under these circumstances, the conduct of elections hard to imagine.
