How important is this election?

Is it any different from any other in your lifetime?

Do you get the feeling that you are in some sort of political purgatory, anxiously awaiting for the American people to cast their vote in the next election?

And you have no idea which direction they might go?

There seems to be no argument of reason or of patriotism that will get their attention. They are like a moth drawn to a flame.

1. They oft say this election is the most important, but this time they're right

I don't see us surviving Trump...unless we controlled the House and Senate to jam him up.
If we can take the Congress why can't we too take the White House.

Trump could do enough damage in two years...before we could get a super majority to block his actions in 2018.

2. It's become a cliche to say "this election is the most important."

So I'm not going to say that.

But this election is unlike any other, in that one major party candidate seems to be contemptuous of (and ignorant of) core values of liberal democracy. It's shocking.

And I feel bad that I have so little trust in our fellow citizens. I still believe most of Trump's supporters are disenchanted Republicans, just plumb worn out with the Republican Party, and they are willing to roll the dice on anybody. I would hope they would cover their bets and put in a Democratic Senate and House to protect the rest of America from their angry little rant. This is unbelievable.

9. Appalling yes, but it's roots are in the rise of the federal anarchists aka Tea-Party Patriots

and the development of that into the controlling force in the Republican party were all covered by the nightly news.

The rise of scores of millions of voters who support anarchy at the federal level, and who have elected control of a Congress that acts on that view is to me way more scary than Trump. We can and very likely will defeat Trump at the polls in Nov, but we are going to have trouble with those millions for maybe another decade

3. I personally do not believe the GOP has the numbers to win this election

Since the media loves Trump and hates HRC, his numbers do not add up in RL. He won't have enough votes to beat HRC. Despite what the media wants to happen, they will be like Rove after RMoney lost on Foxnews. And all the crybaby acts in the world won't change RL.

They can keep it close enough to pull another Florida and we get the second act of "W"?

6. I thought of that one too, unlike getting POd and us all forming a community at DU

I don't think that is all we will do if they cheat like they did in 2000. I don't think WE and others will put up with it this time, it was an unknown in 2000 and we all are suffering for how that turned out. It cannot be allowed to happen a second time. It won't be just counter-websites popping up in protest.

8. I agree and I think that is why there will be a call to action.

Although I have to agree with W (never thought I would say that). I think he will be the last republican POTUS in his lifetime. I believe he is finally correct about something, the GOP brand has been permanently stained in patriotic blood and innocent blood. Those don't just come out in the wash.
