As war rages on, Syrian children starving to death

Medics say humanitarian aid is not enough to stave off malnutrition in areas hit hard by Syria's ongoing civil war.

Bara should weigh 7kg - but he is just half that.

His ribs can be seen protruding from the skin on his tiny chest, and he's been without a proper supply of milk for months.

At a makeshift clinic in the the eastern countryside of Syria's Hama province, an area controlled by opposition forces trying to depose President Bashar al-Assad, volunteer medics are trying everything to save the seven-month-old's life.

But with his body extremely weak and frail due to long-term exposure to malnutrition, they say he will probably die.

This humanitarian disaster is being exploited by fear mongerers with no regard for the humanity of the victims.

We can't save EVERYONE. We have hungry people and failing infrastructure in our own country. These stories are just meant to make us 'feel bad', when we can't personally do anything.

ISIS did not arise in a vacuum. The seeds for the next bogeyman are being sown now and will be reaped long after ISIS ceases to exist.

In the meantime, these deaths are what you must be prepared to accept if you support war to oppose violence. It will not stop it. 3,000 died on 9/11. How many have died since to save lives in the name of 9/11?

I refuse to turn my back on 4 million people. These children aren't just hungry, they're dying.
