Men (of course, not all) continue to want one thing for a wife, and something completely different for their daughters. Very interesting.
One traditional value Mr. Trump does hew to: wanting an old-fashioned wife but a modern, professional daughter. On Thursday, convention-goers will hear from the elder Trump daughter, Ivanka, a successful businesswoman currently writing a book called Women Who Work. Theyll also witness how the Trump family embodies a very old sexist hypocrisy: Men who want one thing for their wives and another for their children.

(9,350 posts)My first thought was that Donald Trump seems to be a guy who does not take responilsibility for his actions. He blamed his wives for his divorces. My second thought was that there may be at least two reasons Trump may be letting his daughter take a larger role in his campaign than his wife. Ivanka speaks better English than Melania. Maybe Melania's accent would not matter to Trump supporters, but it is possible that having her speak every day would bring more attention to the fact Melania was not born the United States. In addition, Ivanka is his daughter, not his third wife. The more Melania speaks the more chances people have to point that she is his third wife. Finally, Ivanka is more helpful to him in an election, espically one in which women vote. The idea that Trump is pro-woman is believable coming from Ivanka. It is either not believable, or less believable coming from Melania.

(4,238 posts)I found the article interesting more for its analysis of men like Trump. They want (in his words) "a beautiful piece of ass" on their arm whose only worthy qualities are superficial, yet prefer that their daughters be respected and accomplished.
