in which case I wouldn't want to miss it. But I won't sit in front of my TV hoping for something funny or interesting. I will ht the intertubes for highlights. It saves time to get someone with a higher tolerance for nonsense to sort through the boring stuff for me.

the fascination of this slow moving train wreck, I will try to watch, but i hope to have access to sufficient amounts of antidote at hand.

I don't want to get too much Stupid on me. Knowing it's on next to me as I type this gives me the shudders. I'm going to try though. I'm not sure how far I'll get before I simply shut it off and wait for TRMS.

I think I have watched every convention since 1964. Maybe even earlier than that.

The single precious resource that is absolutely finite is time. Why would I want to lose some of whatever time I've got left on the planet on them?

I'll be engaged in my usual evening routine; a book, a purring bundle of fur in my lap competing for space and attention with said book, and a jug of icy water to combat summer temperatures. I'll sneak up to watch the deer that's been bedding down in my yard, underneath a massive old-fashioned rose bush get settled for the evening, and pause now and again to listen to the feral cat that's taken up residence meow and scratch at the screen door, knowing that if I actually got up and approached the door, it would bolt for cover.

The tv won't be on, and if it were, the last thing I'd be watching would be the Republican Convention. That's like someone filming the activity in an open latrine.
