The elder Kushner was also convicted of witness tampering after he hired a prostitute to seduce his sister's husband, who was cooperating the the federal government's case against him, and sent a videotape of the encounter to her.

In a 2005 pre-sentencing memo to the presiding judge, Christie sought the maximum punishment and called Kushner's hiring of the prostitute to entrap his brother-in-law "fiendish." Kushner got the maximum sentence of two years in federal prison.
