firefighter takes off his own oxygen mask to save dogs

Video: Firefighter Uses his Oxygen Mask to Save Two Dogs

Submitted by Michael Allen on Jun 11, 2012

The documentary 'Burn' recently filmed a firefighter removing his own oxygen mask to save a man's dogs (video below).

The incident took place in Detroit, where the man's home was on fire.

While firefighters battled the blaze, the homeowner yelled "Did you get my dogs out?"

The firefighters rescued his two dogs from the fire, and, moments later, a firefighter took off his oxygen mask and used it on the dogs, saving their lives.

'Burn' is about the cash-strapped city of Detroit, seen through the eyes of Detroit firefighters, who wore helmets fitted with HD cameras.

The movie's directors Brenna Sanchez and Tom Putnam were inspired by Detroit firefighters risking their lives to put out fires in the impoverished city.

The NY Daily News reports that 'Burn' won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival, but the producers are still fundraising to distribute the film. To contribute funds, please go to detroitfirefilm.org.

Firefighters rescue dogs...

Romney puts them on the roof of his car while trying to strip the firefighter of a job and/or decent pay.

So says Robme! They are big government! To add to this story, I live in MI and love going to Detroit, however, most of the city is extremely impoverished and fires happen literally on a daily basis. They could use twice as many firefighters as they currently have. The last thing Detroit needs is more austerity. Like Robme says though "let Detroit fail" and "I enjoy firing people who provide me with services".

The Obama campaign needs an ad where the scenes are of firefighters running out of burning buildings carrying people, firefighters rescuing dogs, cats, children, firefighters at 9/11 and then it cuts to black and says "These are our heroes." "These are the people Romney says we don't need. These are the people Romney calls big government. We think our heroes deserve more respect than that." Or something. It would make a great ad.

He straps dogs to the roof while firing those who save their lives.

How any of the following can vote for him is beyond me;

Blacks
Women
Gays
Atheist
Pet lovers
poor
Hispanic Americans
Asian Americans
Middle Eastern Americans
Basically anyone who isn't a right-wing white conservative bigoted fundamental Christian Republican.

I am totally in love and in awe of all firefighters and other first responders, police and EMT's, who put their lives on the line for us each and everyday.

Oxygen would increase the burning and is NOT used in firefighting, but in medical aid situations.
