This seems a bit odd to me and I don't think it helps any.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch repeatedly declined to answer any questions on Tuesday about her departments investigation into Hillary Clintons use of a personal email server while she was secretary of state, making for a bizarre congressional hearing in which she referred questions about the matter to a man lower than her on the organizational chart.
At the outset of her testimony Tuesday before the House Judiciary Committee, Lynch said it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on the underlying facts of the investigation or the legal basis for the teams recommendation. That put her in contrast with FBI Director James B. Comey, who answered questions for nearly five hours last week about how he concluded Clinton should not face criminal charges.

(7,573 posts)I think it helps put the email witch hunt to bed...and I think she frustrated rethugs on the committee.

(4,112 posts)The investigation was conducted by the FBI, not by her or her direct team. Her role, as I understand it, is to accept or reject their recommendation, which she did. She would have no more information than what was given to her by the FBI, and which presumably was probed during Comey's testimony.
The optics might not be perfect, but I believe she's done the appropriate thing from a structural/process standpoint.
