I double-dog dare you to come to Colorado and explain why we need fewer firefighters. And be sure to bring your little buddy Scott Walker with you.

(32,723 posts)When Romney said that he was against hiring more firefighters, cops and teachers because it makes government bigger the crowd clapped like trained seals.
Since then, the brain dead are actually knee jerk attacking those "government workers" without an ounce of consideration in how it comes off to anyone who's sane.
If you meet one of these weirdos tell them you know a teacher who doubles as the pilot of a Black Helicopter.

(16,993 posts)I'd be running an ad right now telling Romney, Walker, and the right wingers that THIS is why we need firefighters. To be a firefighter, you have to be highly trained. You can't just go pluck someone off the street at the last minute when you need more people to respond to a disaster like this.
And that's also why they need to be paid well and have good benefits. They have to work odd schedules, often not seeing family for days if they're on duty. Having dedicated, trained people ready to respond in an instant in an emergency comes at a cost. And they're well worth it.
Kicked and recommended!
