Coulter: Romney Has a Midas Touch With Everything He's Done

From ABC's This Week, after formally attacking Mitt Romney and saying if the Republicans nominate him, they're going to lose, Ann Coulter now says "Romney has had a Midas touch with everything he's done." I would imagine some of his investors might have felt that way. Not so much if you were unfortunate enough to work at one of the companies his firm took over.
COULTER: It's not just that I was magnificent at Bain and I should be president; it's that Romney has had a Midas touch with everything he's done.
***
COULTER: Then, at Bain -- I mean, about, what 75 percent, 80 percent of the businesses that were going to bankrupt, he does turn around. He's a green eyeshade kind of guy. He will do what no president, not even Ronald Reagan, has ever done, and that is go through the budget and cut the spending. And there's a lot to be cut.
And the Olympics, which was also going bankrupt and is an enormous business. And the Midas touch man comes in and turns around this nearly bankrupt institution. It is not just Bain. It is everything he touches.

(37,158 posts)She helped found The Cornell Review (one of a number of college "Review" papers started in the 80s (named after The National Review), funded by conservative "philanthropy" organizations to counter "radical leftists" on college campuses and to create a pipeline for the new generation of conservative mouthpieces. She went on to be the head of her local chapter of the Federalist Society and trained at the National Journalism Center (another conservative-funded training ground). In 1994 she went to Washington to work for the Senate Judicial Committee.
She palled around with David Brock back in the day when he was the Right's foremost character assassin, basically the late80s-early-90s classier version of Andrew Breitbart.* She was one of the so-called "elves" who conspired with Kenneth Starr's office and the Paula Jones legal team to create the "perjury trap" for Bill Clinton.
She delivered for well-connected people. THAT's what her qualification is.
*Brock grew a conscience when the viciousness and hypocrisy of the Republicans around him wore down on him (he's gay), and withdrew, eventually founding Media Matters. Coulter basically scooped up Brock's old gig, without bothering much to maintain a facade of journalism.

(12,272 posts)Romney turned the Olympics around by getting money from the federal government. And we know what he did at Bain, it is not the golden touch it is the golden grab. He is the very opposite of Robin Hood. Coulter is such a sell-out idiot.

(13,886 posts)nominating Romney would mean they would lose the election? Has she had Republican shock treatments lately?

(904 posts)More of the right wing echo-chamber philosophy: repeat a lie enough times and it will be true! I guess that's what they want him to be: Romney, the great golden shower trickle downer.
She may be on to something. All he has ever created is profit for rich people, never anything useful or constructive....

(8,582 posts)A Midas touch doesn't help out the people but helps out the individual. Which is what we don't need as a president. Just as Bush, when he went into Iraq because Saddam threatened his father. That was personal as well and wasn't meant to help out our own. But as it is we are still cleaning up the mess Bush made in the Middle East. I don't see any difference in Romney.

He's the man, the man with the Midas touch
A spider's touch
Such a cold finger
Beckons you to enter his web of sin
But don't go in
Golden words he will pour in your ear
But his lies can't disguise what you fear
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
It's the kiss of death ...
From Mister Goldfinger
Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold
This heart is cold
Golden words he will pour in your ear
But his lies can't disguise what you fear
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
It's the kiss of death ...
From Mister Goldfinger
Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold
This heart is cold
He loves only gold
Only gold
He loves gold
He loves only gold
Only gold
He loves gold

(16,113 posts)charging huge fees to the American people for management that doesn't actually fix any significant problems, but does restructure the country into an entity that can be easily broken up and the pieces sold off? If that's the golden touch he's planning to bring, leave me out.

(100,060 posts)Bain didn't save shit - they destroyed far more jobs than it created.
And Romney is not King Midas - everything he touches turns to shit. He impersonated a cop, tied a dog to the roof of his car and ritualistically cut a gay kids' hair. He has no regard for human life and actually takes joy from firing people - if anyone thinks he's going to do a better job than Obama they are sorely mistaken. All our government assets - what's left of them - will get sold to the highest bidder, we'll have another endless war with Iran and the rich will continue to get rich. If that's King Midas - fuck that - I want out.
