Before global warming got so pronounced, the school year in the cooler states was longer because now days got made up in Junehttp://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/02/25/bostons-tops-100-inches-of-snow-in-record-setting-winter/. Boston had 100 inches of snow in the early months of 2015, but that was an anomaly. We have many winters with no snow at all.

Our weather now would really have, among many other things, severely limited the Currier and Ives catalog, not to mention all the snow, sleigh, etc. songs and references.

But it is actually Midsummer.

Never did understand how the longest day of summer came to be called the first day of it.
