I think Clinton will defeat Trump with the greatest of ease
It's not because she's unencumbered with problems herself, but his are so much more pronounced. She is disciplined. He is the most undisciplined political candidate for major office that we've ever seen.
He is going to self-destruct. He's not used to the political arena and that may have helped him with the hapless little republicans also ran, but it's hurting now. So he's turning to the teleprompter, but here's what Mark Shields had to say last night on the News Hour: <snip> MARK SHIELDS: So, you know, Donald Trump now is going to a teleprompter, as we saw today and we saw on election night. Donald Trump on a teleprompter is about as electrifying as the recorded message you get calling the airlines and saying, calls will be answered in the order by which they were received. (LAUGHTER) MARK SHIELDS: He loses all of Donald Trump. More: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/shields-and-brooks-on-anticlimactic-clinton-victory-trumps-moral-chasm/ Trump is mentally unstable with a ridiculously thin skin and an inability to shut the fuck up when he needs to. Honestly, my greatest concern is that he'll implode before the convention. I prefer September.

1. Mostly agree
Donald Trump's campaign is one hot mess and Secretary Clinton is ready for him.
But two things concern me. First, I share your worry that Mr. Trump's moment of epic implosion cannot happen too early. September or October would be best, especially if it were during a debate. What a show that could be! Second, Democrats cannot be complacent. We need to fight at every level of government to put Democrats in office. |

10. I totally agree on the importance of down ticket races. We need more votes in both
the Senate and the House.

2. I agree. I feel sorry for Hillary that she has to run against such a buffoon.
However, it will be fun watching his melt down.

3. You're right, we should be VERY confident. This'll be a cake walk.
Trump is self-destructing and won't do anything to change his negative trajectory. He'd doomed already. Most of us won't even need to bother voting at this point now.

4. Been saying this shit for months.
I even made it a hobby to bookmark the hundreds and hundreds of "Trump will win," posts I see around here, just because of how utterly ludicrous it is.

9. people who vigorously oppose Hillary, generally seem to overestimate
Trump's appeal. It's hardly a secret that I don't like Clinton or that I strongly opposed her during the primary, but I think Trump's complete meltdown is inevitable. I also thought Shield's comment about tRump on the teleprompter was spot on and an important observation.

7. " He is the most undisciplined political candidate for major office that we've ever seen."
In all of US history, I'll wager.

8. Oh, there have been some real whack jobs prior to Trump
but I gotta say, he's a contender for whackiest and most undisciplined.

12. Still a LONG way to go
but, this has been my sense of it all along.
I said last summer Trump was a serious threat to win the nomination, and by Thanksgiving said he had it in a sleeper hold. Because he was the out and out embodiment of the actual voters the republicans have conned to win a LOT of elections for three decades now. But. the general is a different thing, it isn't the childish, self absorbed, petulant repubilcan bubble. And, while it is very popular to bash Hillary, her primary strength that totally gets overlooked is her toughness, and as noted in the OP, she is super disciplined. Anything can happen, but ... |

14. And what does it say...
...when the first woman candidate for POTUS beats the most 'unqualified, ridiculous blowhard' ever???? That the USA has reached some kind of socio-political maturation? First with the African-American and then , in quick succession, a woman? Or that it is all just a placebo. . |
