George Clooney: 'There’s not going to be a President Donald Trump'

http://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/may/12/george-clooney-donald-trump-jodie-foster-money-monster-cannes-2016
<snip>
George Clooney has said that Donald Trump will not win the US presidential election as the American public will not be ruled by fear.

“There’s not going to be a President Donald Trump,” he said. “Fear is not going to drive our country. We’re not afraid of Muslims or immigrants or women. We’re not going to be afraid of anything.”

Clooney was speaking at the Cannes film festival press conference for Money Monster, a thriller directed by Jodie Foster that also features Julia Roberts and Skins star Jack O’Connell. The film tells the story of a blowhard financial pundit Lee Gates (Clooney), who, along with his director (Roberts) is held hostage live on air by a man (O’Connell) who risked his life savings on one of Gates’s tips.

Clooney also used the press conference to attack cable news networks for allowing their output to slide further into infotainment, a move that he says helped Trump become a viable candidate for the presidency.

Reagan sold himself as the sunny optimist, W didn't run of fear in 2000. W did run on fear in 2004 and it worked for 51% of the counrty. Clooney is talking about Trump's fear mongering, and how he thinks it will not help Trump in thr GE.

In general, successful Presidential campagns, especially ones without incumbents, are won on positivity and hope. Trump, pulling the angry white male thing is putting himself at a disadvantage.

instead of trying to force his way into controlling the US. He is not a leader. No one voted for him. Yes, we hope so greatly that he is right, but he is not right for saying it.

So, either Clooney or that 8 Ball is right. The 8 Ball hedged a bit, Clooney projected certainty.

The American public has been ruled by fear many times. I bet George just forgot about that.

them on...if they could only reach his heights of morality, wherein he highlights the virtues of being a moonshine-making, prison-escaping, con-man.

It's not like we would listen to a two-bit hack of a movie actor for things concerning the presidency of the country.
