Go to this post and you will see the link to the video

It is 13 minutes about how GOP took him for granted, week after week saying

he cant win, wont win. But he kept winning, and winning, and winning.

Etc.

It sounds the warning of complacency and in a way that really makes sense.

I have echoed similar concerns in a thread earlier today.

Instead, I was attacked for pointing out the obvious. If the Democratic party wants to go on cruise control while Trump keeps hammering his anti trade stance it is going to be a big problem when Nov rolls around.

8. Seriously.

It's like hitting the accelerator on a road to a cliff, and disregarding every flashing warning light along the way. Even if the Clinton campaign tried to hit the brakes, it wouldn't be viewed with any credibility - not after her record of the last 20 years, and years spent selling the TPP as the "gold standard".

17. I don't even know what that's supposed to mean

or where you think I said it. The problem that the Clinton campaign has is that in an election centered around wage and economic discontent, they're walking breezily into a campaign where Donald Trump has a more publicly resonant message on free trade than Hillary Clinton of "the TPP is the gold standard" fame, and she can't take a different position without looking ridiculous based on her history. Her effort to say she was against the TPP last October was utterly unconvincing, based on her advocacy of it, and her record.

The Democratic Party has been passing these free trade deals against the wishes of the vast majority of the actual voters who actually make up their party for decades. Even now, Obama is saying he's determined to make the TPP part of his "legacy", even though he only secured passage of fast track authority to negotiate it with a precious few Democratic legislators (on his 2nd try) and a vast majority of Republican ones. Like Bill Clinton with NAFTA.

Well, Republican voters (not to be confused with Republican political figures) have shown that they're not fans of free trade either - it's the theme that Donald Trump hammers most heavily at his campaign events. Maybe that won't be enough to overcome Donald Trump's other problems, but in an election where most people haven't felt part of the "economic recovery" of the last 8 years, I wouldn't want to gamble on it.

30. Joking right?

The map is quite easy.

You have several states (Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Ohio) that have been preparing for this moment for years, setting up greater and greater blockades to voting for democrats. Voting in the GOP neighborhoods.. easy, Democratic neighborhoods.. not so much.

The ONLY way to combat these encumbrances is an OVERWHELMING democratic turnout AND independents voting for the democratic candidate.

Clinton does not inspire turnout, nor does she have a chance with independents. Even Obama lost independents in 2012.

http://www.270towin.com/maps/az2X0

Wisconsin could go either way, b/c the senate race may inspire enough people to turnout, but you don't have that luxury in Florida.. I am gifting PA to Clinton, but that will be a battle she won't likely win b/c of her support for NAFTA.

She doesn't have a path.

33. Nope and its easy to see why you are wrong. EarlG posted a pic just a day or two ago for starters

illustrating one big reason:

Mitt Romney captured an unprecedented amount of white voters. 62%.

Trump can't improve on that number much. And Trump is losing the latino vote by 20% more than Romney lost it. Romney lost big because he got only 27% of the Latino vote. Trump is polling in single digits with Latinos. He is doing worse than Romney with women. He is doing about as bad as Romney did with African Americans and Jews.

There is no path to 270 electoral votes for Trump. The demographics are terribly against him and those above groups voters who say they wont vote for Trump have a VERY negative opinion of him.

44. No! Van Jones is saying that the presidential race isn't over

till Nov. If you assume victory now, then Trump will win.

87. Based on the millions of POC and students who wont be allowed to vote...the millions

of votes that will be intentionally miscounted and the thousands of polling places closed, purposely, to prevent voting.

Based on the ignorance of the voting public, believing Drumpf is an outsider who cares about them.

Based on the history of the last 9 months watching Drumpf win over and over and over and over again when he was supposed to lose EVERY TIME

and more

54. Nah, he's just saying it ain't over 'til it's over...

...and that if we get complacent we could lose it.

I'll just add:
Besides, even if a win were guaranteed, there's still no reason to back off. CRUSH THEM. Hand them losses on par with '72 or '84. Worse, if we can manage it.

67. Who said back off?

That doesn't change the math or the reality of the situation at all.

Sure if everyone stayed home in november it is not impossible Trump would win. Having said that given all of the variables stacked against him that he himself with his campaign creates (minority and women vote issues to name a couple) his chances of any pof that happening are so small as to be non existent. He is so reviled by the majority of the nation people will come out just to vote against him and he is doing his best to ensure that number gets higher every day.

Don't forget Dems have not even started General election mode yet. The adds against him have barely even begun.

This will be the biggest blowout in electoral history. If we should be worried about anything it should be that the Dems will take the huge win they are about to be handed as a justification for their current course instead of taking the to heart what Bernie is showing them that there is a large portion of the Dem base that is not happy with the direction they are going.

That is what I worry about. Trump is nothing but a morbid curiosity.

32. A Democrat that if waking up to reality at last, I agree 110%. I didn't

hear any real strategy to beat Trump though. I read posts here every day that Trump can't possibly win BULLSHIT.
Wake the hell up that's what all those Republicans thought.

narrative that Trump can't win. Meanwhile Trump mocks the media and gains momentum for Nov.

34. yes, the Democrats could throw this opportunity away if excessive optimism reduces preparation

just because we have the makings of a major wave election doesn't mean we've got the mindset to bring it to fruition, and meanwhile Trump is motivating people in the Rust Belt states to vote for him because he's rich and different. there is a danger.

the Democratic nominee, and his/her campaign staff, will absolutely need to be prepared for a social media war on a vast scale. i don't think there's anything we can do about the "reality TV" angle except not play his game, as Trump has the experience on that field.

getting the Democratic runner up to actively back the Democratic nominee will be absolutely essential if we're going to win big like we can this year.

41. Good stuff. Very necessary to say this.

And if the polls show too wide a blowout occurring in the days leading to the election, the motivation will need to switch to the prospect of a wave election beating back nihistic, tea-party conservatism for years to come.

potential Democratic nominee and the weakest one, in my lifetime. There is still time to dump Clinton and beat Trump. Sanders will beat Trump in a landslide if we let him.

82. It is a fact, that the better Bernie Sanders is known the more folks like him.

IT is also a fact, that the better Clinton is known the LESS folks like her.

And, if you don't believe me, then look at their favorable/unfavorable charts:
http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/bernie-sanders-favorable-rating
http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/hillary-clinton-favorable-rating

Also, Sanders is considered to be ridiculously HONEST by the electorate. That means that folks will listen to him and believe what he says.

Clinton, on the other hand, is considered to be ridiculously DISHONEST by the electorate. That means that folks have already tuned anything she says out.

Also, Clinton is strongly despised by independent voters. While Sanders is beloved by them.

88. Imagine this. Up is down. But the more conservative press

Has been more ahem honest this season, because Trump scares their pants off. On the bright side, Dems will get reinforcements on their right flank. The chamber of commerce types will come to their new home, the Donkeys, and since the donkeys keep telling progressives to buzz off...I guess that is a good thing.

71. He losses it at the very beginging

when he says the reasoning is the same as the reasoning that said he couldn't win the Republican nomination.

Completely wrong headed not nearly the same thing.

He is king of the clowns. There was no good choice or even reasonable choice on the republican side. To a man every single candidate was deeply flawed.

Not so in the general.

Good lord the more of it I listen to the more I wonder why this guy is discussing politics at all he just doesn't understand the electorate at all.

93. Very interesting. Van is not the only one saying this. I remember when Lawrence

O'Donnell was mocking Drumpf, appropriately, 9 months ago, that he could NOT EVER win anything.

He won EVERYTHING

Lets face it, with preventing millions of Democrats from voting, which will happen, this moron can win.

The entire existence of human life on the planet will then be at risk, for obvious reasons.
