There is actually an extreme left wing (note: I say left wing, not Liberal, these people are not Liberal) ideology out there right now that is a copy of christianity but with the buzzwords changed. They have original sin. They demand constant repentance for your original sin. They are allowed to hate the out group. They have a nebulous powerful enemy power that is constantly working against them (Devil). They actively ban and suppress blasphemy. They are seeking power so they can enforce their ideology. What makes them a really big threat is they are banking on built up good will from their predecessors (who did good things) so it is taboo to speak against them. This last point is why I don't name them because I sometimes see the buzzwords of this ideology floating around here at DU.

Its not uncommon to see Mexican flags in California, and it's no different than flying Italian, British or Irish flags in other parts of the country as a show of national heritage and ethnic pride. Its really no big deal, but it sure seems to affect bigots more than others.

That's what is being reported. Protests and counter-protests. They'll probably wind up fighting with each other, that's when the cops will move in.

Trump has certainly fomented the Know-Nothing political identity, effectively allowing him sympathy from half-wits and idiots; while yet his supporters maintain the pretense of benign innocence in their consistent and irrelevant questions apropos to nothing in the OP.

Unfortunately Trump will pick up voters who hadn't yet fallen for his immigrant rantings over the past few months, but see the activities by them this past few days seem to bear out his rants. Sad, but true.

One couldn't possibly anticipate anyone protesting such a fine individual.

I must say, kudos to the police for keeping calm, and kudos to all for keeping a potentially explosive scene from turning into something much worse.

Cleveland was the "successful" bidder for the 2016 GOP Convention.

Always be careful as to what you wish for.

Cleveland area DUers, you have my sympathy.

Cleveland doesn't have a Mayor Daley and I am hoping the Cleveland PD won't overreact to what would normally be considered random acts of civil disobedience for a political convention. Having said that I think Trump's presence there may be just what some hot heads are looking for.

But he is going to lose and lose big in California. He won't get hardly any votes here.

We love our diversity, and many of us are diverse in different ways.

As my daughter once said of a playmate who had fetal alcohol syndrome: she is different, but so am I.

That's the way we feel in California. We are all different.

Only those who fool themselves into thinking that they aren't different can back Trump. And they would be terribly disappointed to find out just what losers they would be if Trump were elected.

They'll ignore the fact that people whose families have been there for 400 years are in the crowd of protesters and that Trump's disapproval ratings are "yuge." It's all them damn college kids and riled up Messcans. Can't trust either one of them to behave.

wanted these emotion laden frictions, 'us against them', 'we are under attack', 'they are threatening', conflicts, visuals and TV coverage.

From the beginning he was trying to fire up his own followers to do violence and wanted this passion to be a part of his campaign.
