Last week I posted about participating in the Survivors' Walk at our local Relay For Life event. Mom is 92 and hasn't been able to do the walk since she was 87, so I was walking for her. I also walked for my sister-in-law, diagnosed two months ago with pancreatic cancer. She passed away this afternoon after having been lovingly cared for at home by Hospice.
If you can, please help us to celebrate her life by donating to hospice programs, the American Cancer Society, Planned Parenthood, or any other organization that screens for cancer, seeks a cure or helps to ease the suffering of patients and their families. At the very least, hospice nurses and volunteers can always use a hug.
Thank you.

(2,593 posts)I agree, hospice provides wonderful assistance to terminally ill patients and is an organization that should be recognized and supported.

(4,982 posts)Planned Parenthood gets at least a donation per year from me, usually more - particularly now that the psychopaths in power want to close it down. Thank YOU for walking the good - and important - walk for your loved ones, and those of others.

We walked for my brother who recently passed from pancreatic cancer.
You are so right that the hospice folks were extremely supportive.

(20,453 posts)We should keep ALL these programs, and not let others steal them away or drain them little by little...
My condolences to you and your family for your great loss... and hugs to the nurses.

(22,457 posts)I second your words about Hospice, specifically. They cared for my brother in his final days with great tenderness, and for me in my grief.
All consideration of any kind needs to be given to them.
You, madame, are one of me She-roes.
