https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-would-seek-to-block-money-transfers-to-force-mexico-to-fund-border-wall/2016/04/05/c0196314-fa7c-11e5-80e4-c381214de1a3_story.htmlIn the memo, Trump said he would threaten to change a rule under the USA Patriot Act antiterrorism law to cut off a portion of the funds sent to Mexico through money transfers, commonly known as remittances. The threat would be withdrawn if Mexico made a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to pay for the border wall, he wrote.

But that figure includes cash from around the world, not just the United States. In addition, a Government Accountability Office report in January said that it is difficult to track how much money illegal Mexican immigrants are sending versus those working legally in the United States.
...
But at the core of Trumps approach is a focus on the remittances of illegal immigrants, which he argues are crucial to Mexican economic stability and are a way of pressuring the country to disburse billions of dollars to the United States to fund construction of his wall.
...
Many academics and economists have said that Trumps notion of impounding remittances could have devastating consequences, harming poor communities and families who rely on funds from abroad to provide food and shelter.
...
Trump ends with a scathing critique of Mexico, claiming that it has taken advantage of the United States for years through gangs, drug traffickers and cartels responsible for the extraordinary daily cost of this criminal activity.
We have the moral high ground here, and all the leverage, Trump concludes.

I don't think America's White Trump Voter Base actually understands what they're voting for.
They will rally to deport all the 'illegals' and then be PISSED off when oranges are 20$ a dozen and they have to go back to cutting their own lawns.
Mental deficients they are, to the Last. I suppose we should (as liberal democrats) be willing to bear some of the responsibility for their sorry state....we're the ones who are supposed to advocate for the usefulness of things like Public Education, after all.
BUT nobody taught me political theory and Ethical Morality but me (cause High School sure as hell didnt)
so if I'm in the minority here and they're on their own with their own Stoopid then I'm OK with that, too, I suppose.
