Was extending VAWA worth accepting mass incaceration and more executions?

VAWA was a good piece of legislation...but was extending it really worth making THAT kind of a devil's bargain?

This is meant to spur a discussion of exactly how many horribly bad things we should accept in the name of one good thing.

And it seems not much has a chance in hell to pass Congress these days unless it makes someone rich. Passing laws for purely the common good is rare.

Even the ACA has made certain people rich.

That's what Congress is about now.
