What the in world! MSNBC says that the media did not create Trump's success!Last edited Tue Mar 29, 2016, 09:36 AM - Edit history (1)
Well, maybe they are right in some sense, but the media has giving him so much media attention, he has had a place to spew his hate filled campaign. This gives Trump a platform unlike any other candidate, due to air time. I did laugh when I heard 2 conservatives radio hosts go after Trump, yesterday and not coddle him with easy questions. They went after him hard and he was uncomfortable, irritated and repeating himself. If you notice, when Trump is nervous and upset, he repeats himself, stutters and rambles. I think Hillary or Sanders will be able to use this as tactics against him, if he should win the nominee for the GOP. No, MSNBC you and the other media outlets help to the success of Trump and the GOP failure to attack Trump in the beginning, lead to this so called candidate to rise as a front runner.

1. It's not OUR fault you're fat
No, eat your mound of sugar and lard before it gets cold, and don't blame ME for making it, it was there before and you were always going to have to eat it.

2. Was that MSNBC or were they reading Eugene Robinson's column?
I see Eugene is on this morning, but it was actually his column. MSNBC is just using it to try to cover their ass. I read the column last night. Robinson just tapped danced around the media's roll in Trump's rise, and said he that despite what he says (or doesn't say), Trump's campaign is news and nothing like the media has ever seen before, so like a train wreck, they're covering it. He also said that the media just doesn't know how to handle Trump in the usual arena of "horse race" political coverage. It was all largely bullshit.

3. and of course the media wasn't responsible for the swift-boating of John Kerry, or that President
Obama wasn't "isn't an American"
They just devoted 80% of their air time covering them, so something like 1 out of 5 Americans do not believe that President Obama is an American. The only thing I agree with the media is that they are not responsible. by that I mean they REALLY aren't RESPONSIBLE and have set back journalism decades. I think Chuck Todd summarized it best, when he pointed out that "it wasn't their job to challenge republican lies" Which is equivalent to saying that it isn't their job to report facts |

4. Republicans & their Corporations do not do responsibility
Republicans - and I include MSNBC in this lump - routinely and systematically weasel away, and blame other people for the shit they unleash.

5. Trump played he media and used their weakness for pointless drama and spectacle.
If the media existed to provide information, he would have earned no more than any other candidate.

6. 30 straight minutes
Of an empty stage that tRump may be on while not even cutting, not even for a second, to a real presidential candidate, giving an actual speech, says otherwise.

8. Of course media "created" him
Media USED to be pictures/films of "things that happened". It was "who, what, when , where"..with NO editorial commentary....
Commentary was reserved for the editorial pages of the papers, and news magazines. News now is a "show" with highly paid hosts..with the same "news" reported by every "show"on whatever network 24-7 |

11. he did raise one interesting point
"If there is any sort of collective media failure, it’s in paying not too much attention to Trump but instead too little to his message."
i disagree with his premise, but this is interesting -- Trump the candidate maneuvered himself into a position where his campaign coverage is almost entirely about HIM rather than his policy proposals. not campaign ads, but campaign coverage. this is a master stroke, one playable only by one who already has huge popularity and name recognition. it's not just a Reaganesque Teflon coating, it's complete displacement: the candidate is evaluated without fully exploring his policy positions and their ramifications. and yes, the media is to blame for this choice. |
