(582 posts)and admiration for Ms. LaDuke. I was commenting on the fact that since she was Ralph Nader's running mate in 1996 and 2000, and since the mere mention of Nader or anyone even tangentially associated with him more often than not sets off a whirlwind of Nader rage on DU, I rather expected that.

(32,723 posts)Believe it or not there was an effort to make corporations not only have the same rights as people but to have the same power as sovereign governments. This would mean the President would have to treat some corrupt CEO as if he were a visiting head of state.

(756 posts)Invention called money, now represnted by rational numbers that are also imaginary,in the cloud which is not really a cloud but well, imaginary. Wait, corporations, an imaginary construct, exist to make money, an imaginary construct, so that some people with big numbers in the cloud, can poison people with small numbers. Oh, I give up, I don't think it makes sense that is why they call me crazy.

(608 posts)I watched the "Big Short" last night. Wow!
The first character that saw it coming (Christian Bale's character) made $489 million on on the short. The firm he worked for made $1.6 billion.
The scroll at the end of the movie said he retired and and now runs a "small" fund investing only in water.

(608 posts)The financial markets are doing the same things they were doing prior to the bailout.
And look at the heiress apparent to the party nomination.
We are "domed, domed, domed, I tell ya," (with apologies to some unknown, previously banned du poster).

(745 posts)Does anyone else notice that there is a lack of pro-Hillary supporters on many of these important-issue threads? I would hope it just isn't because of the politics! Do it for Humanity people!

wanting clean food without GMOs and
glyphosate herbicide and
bee-killing Neonicotinoids
makes you an activist, and why
proposing to corrupt food and land
with synthetic chemicals and
genetic mutation doesnt make
a corporation a terrorist.

(2,941 posts)Seems like US jobs, education, environment are worth protecting. Why does supporting a candidate interested in something other than sending jobs to Asia, war and Wall Street make me a magic dust loving leftist.. communist.. socialist.. racist.. Republican (lol, my fav)
The history of political convenience and expediency is filled with hardship for US working class familes and filled with riches for the elite.
