Killer Care: How Medical Error Became America's Third Largest Cause of Death,

This is shocking. But I urge you not to jump on the Stupid Bandwagon and start condemning all of Medical Science just because of these facts.

One could, I suppose, post a Generic HeartBleed story here about how a particular toddler suffered and died needlessly at the hands of medical science. That would tug at heart strings, for sure. But it would give a distorted picture of medical science.

So I urge you: Do not condemn all healers because of this unfortunate reality. We do not need any more incitement to stupid Digital Stoning Parties.

"Among Leape and Makary’s principal interests were deficient and impaired physicians. Leape was famous for speaking at national conferences to hundreds of physicians and asking them to “raise your hand if you know of a physician you work with who should not be practicing because he or she is dangerous?” Every hand had gone up, and still goes up today when Makary asks the same question..."

2. Medical science does a lot of good

Do not condemn all doctors just because several thousand of them have unintentionally caused needless suffering and deaths.

That would be some atrocious and unscientific logic, for sure.

3. Like an angel of darkness they swoop in with

Bogus studies and bullshit data to obfuscate the issues.

5. Your subjective new agey feelings about Angels are interesting

...but you have no scientific data to back up your subjective feelings, so it's difficult to take your "opinion" seriously.

Medical doctors do a lot of good, too. They are not all - by a long stretch - ANGELS OF DARKNESS. Many, in fact most, are angels of mercy.

Please support America's healers, including the medical doctors cited in this book. Trashing them all because of the incompetence and malfeasance of some is - in my view - dangerously wrong.

6. Agreed. Hippie Punching* a whole class of healers just because one, or...

many of them are incompetent or foolish, is patently unfair. Hippie Punching* is Trumpian - by which I mean this is what Donald Trump and his RepubliGoon followers are doing verbally, digitally, and also physically.

Some people suggest that DU should outright ban Hippie Punching. But I am not among them. My hope is that DU posters will be mature enough to stop on their own, or if some are stupid and mean enough to persist in this unfair posting behavior, that the majority of DU readers will learn to instantly spot and shun those who practice Regularly Scheduled Hippie Punching.

Support our American healers. Shun the Hippie Punchers

* hippie punching (urban dictionary)

1. The fantasy common among disaffected right-wingers of assaulting people they imagine as the embodiment of treasonous forces afflicting the nation.

2. The practice common among establishment centrists of ritualistically denigrating progressives in order to win over imaginary swing voters and David Brooks. Sometimes misinterpreted as a boneheaded political mistake, it's actually a sign of deep and unselfish commitment to pleasing owners and professionals even at the cost of losing elections.
