http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Oakland-Airport-adds-breastfeeding-pods-for-new-6880843.phpNew moms needing to breastfeed or pump on the go from the Oakland Airport are now able to do so easily and discreetly, thanks to free-standing Mamava-brand private "pods."
Administrators have placed two of these breastfeeding portable rooms around Oakland International (in post-security Terminal 1 and Terminal 2), making it the first airport in California to install such facilities.
Each lockable pod installed at the airport is five feet by ten feet wide, with a 60-inch turnaround. The models selected by the airport feature one fold down table, an internal AC, two outlets, grab bars, and two benches. Per the official airport press release, they will be open and available during all operating hours, except when being serviced.
Noting that the airport staff is "excited" to bring an "important amenity" to the Oakland International, a spokesperson for the Port of Oakland tells SFGATE that thus far, reception has been great.

(14,733 posts)1. Privacy pods, bigger than an airplane bathroom...
I suspect more than just breastfeeding of children will likely occur in those before long.

You know, for their privacy.

(2,989 posts)3. Would have used it when I was pumping.
I had to pump for my first preemie because she never was able to get a good latch. Pumping always felt so awkward so a private space like that would have worked for me.
For breastfeeding my second kiddo I probably wouldn't have cared if there was a private room or not.

Our family thought it was ridiculous and people need to get over breastfeeding.
