FALSE! The U.S. is second to last on the OECD scale.Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly (here and here) said the United States is a high-tax country. As he put it recently, If you look at whats going on, we have the highest taxes anywhere in the world. We pay more business tax, we pay more personal tax. We have the highest taxes in the world. The truth is the opposite.
In fact, the United States is a low-tax country, collecting less in taxes as a share of the economy than virtually any other member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as the graph shows. In addition, U.S. corporate taxes as a share of the economy are below the OECD average.

We don't need to lower corporate taxes, just define and collect windfall profit taxes.

But as this shows it doesn't actually yield all that much money comparatively.

Corporations know they don't pay more in real taxes here. It's the cheap labor they are going after when they move there manufacturing off-shore.

(36,392 posts)9. Republicans and hillarians are on an anti tax rampage this week
They prefer hugely expensive for profit healthcare to an income tax increase of $100/year for most families that would pay for healthcare for everyone.

Everyone knows that all the European countries high up in that list are just plain ol' socialists.
