BE AWARE th railroads are pushing against laws requiring more than one engineer or employee per freight train. The railroads claim that there is only a need for just ONE person manning these long haul freight trains. That technology is so good that one person can run these long trains. That includes even trains hauling hazardous materials I would assume.
If you think about it they probably would be one with NO ONE on a train and let computers run them across the nation. It all an effort to reduce employees substantially so they can increase the bottom line.
So the next time you see one of these long trains realize that there may be only just the engineer on that train. So if the engineer gets sick and passes out too bad. Of course when do you eat or got to the bathroom.

(62,444 posts)It seems a little overreactive to kill two lobbyists just for asking for one man freight trains.
They could just politely say "no" without escalating it to that level.
That Colorado Bill is one ornery guy.
