Russian and Japan are losing population. Both countries have strict immigration policies same as what the GOP wants for the US.
But without immigration US would be in the same problem. Less workers, people retiring at a rate faster than the birth rate.
Good article from a pro business magazine. If we follow the GOP immigration it will be an economic disaster for the US

(4,462 posts)are much higher in the USA than Russia, Japan and most of Europe, and Slate's comments about the USA are little more than conjecture in support of political goals.
Our differences with some countries in apparent long-term recession and decline can actually boost conservative arguments demanding much harsher policies against the undocumented, and should be offered with extreme caution.

(14,459 posts)I met someone last year who has been here legally from Mexico for 15 years and was just about to get his full citizenship.
The people who are here illegally are usually being exploited by the people they work for, and that's the reason we are supposed to continue doing this. Is that really why we want people here? To be an exploitable slave class?
