I decided to keep a list and this seems to be a good place.

So, I shop with my heart and brain and conscience.

Places that do not get my business:

Walmart---obviously
Chick-fil-a---I love the sandwiches and if I am with a group, I go along but otherwise...no.
Hobby Lobby
and now Land's End--just got a new catalog and was ready to order stuff.

I will swear on anything you want that I have not bought gas at an Exxon station since the wreck of the Valdese...

I am sure that there are others and am pretty sure y'all will make some suggestions and I will consider them.

Oh, and be sure if there is a confederate flag flying at an establishment, I will not enter.

I used to post on another site as Liberal Southern Democrat and I am still one.

did not know about their Steinem thing tho.

A lovely place to comment to a company is their FAcebook page.

On the one hand, their boss is a right wing complete asshole.

On the other, their pizza is so gawd-awful that I'm not sure politics is the proper reason to avoid it.

I forgot Papa John's. When he said that he would have to raise prices to give health coverage to his employees.....he is a billionaire, lives in a disgustingly huge mansion.....no way I would give him any of my money.

Payind between 95 cents to under $5 an hour, and some are getting 40% of that back as tax incentives from us.

Hotel reservations, call centers, all sorts of stuff. Starbucks is one of the companies using them so they are off our list as well as the companies you listed.

However, those jerks have their fingers in so many pies, it is extremely hard to completely avoid lining their filthy pockets. (See also at link.)

They are the only store around that has a good selection of Kool-aid.

In general though my policy is that if I boycott an establishment it has to be because of things they do to their employees or to the environment; I don't boycott businesses because they have a different political opinion than I have.

and high on the list is how they treat their employees. So many cannot work enough hours to qualify for any benefits and many qualify for food stamps.
They are now closing small stores in small towns after they ran the local grocery stores out of business.
The Walton heirs have more money than they could ever use and we subsidize their employees.

Unfortunately, I have a couple of things I cannot find anywhere else and do occasionally go in, but it is as a last resort.

I think of Chick-fil-a and Hobby Lobby as having human rights issues and misguided religious beliefs.

to "shop my conscience".
The ones on your list are good to know to avoid.
I do not use BP or AT&T because of links to cheney (and of course what BP did to the Gulf of Mexico, but I avoided them even before then).

Nestle is an awful company and one you really need to read the package information to avoid.
Also anything koch brother related, like Northern bath tissue (and maybe Angel Soft, I forget, I only use Scott or store brand).

The few times I do need to go to Walmart it usually ends up being something made in the US! So that makes me feel a little better(also I still write in a paper check book register, even with my debit card and I like writing "Walmart sucks" on the entry!).
