you should probably read what the SPLC actually said:
https://www.splcenter.org/news/2016/02/17/splcs-intelligence-report-amid-year-lethal-violence-extremist-groups-expanded-ranks-2015
Nowhere on the SPLC site does it list the Republican Party as a hate group. They simply note how the hate groups are feeding into the GOP and the GOP is responding by feeding into the hate groups.
The GOP was NOT named as one of the listed hate groups, though.

(15,429 posts)Be careful what you jump on. Occupy Democrat screwed the pooch and just made shit up. Thom Hartmann didn't bother to go to the original source and only reported what Occupy Democrat said.
I'd rather just have the straight story. Didn't catch the Thom Hartman thing though.

(4,249 posts)Being an accessory to the hate and violence of the identified hate groups is not exactly the same as being a hate group. But it puts the GOP in the same pile of filth.

(15,429 posts)My headline was SPLC Stops Short of Naming GOP a Hate Group.
Then I posted a link directly to the article on the SPLC web site.

(58,604 posts)Not that the GOP isn't a hate group. AFAIC it is, but no organization like the SPLC could get away with calling it that in the open.
