Here's some video of the arrest of the Princeton Professor
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/12/us/police-release-video-of-traffic-stop-of-princeton-professor.html?_r=1
Professor Perry was pulled over for going 67 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. Not all states require arrests for outstanding parking tickets, although I'm not sure about driving with a suspended license.

1. seems very straightforward
She was speeding, had a warrant and was arrested

3. If more officers treated people with respect and courtesy
like this one, we'd all be a lot better off. He seemed like a nice guy since he tried to make her as comfortable as possible with the situation.

5. The officers seemed very professional
They told her what was going on, told her why she was being arrested, had to be handcuffed, said she could make phone calls and texts once they got to the police station, etc. These officers acted the way I would expect them to.

6. But
"...although the department released footage of the arrest, it has declined to release video of the episode from inside the police station."

7. Even if they did nothing wrong in the station
video of this woman handcuffed to the table is not going to look good.
I know they don't like to make exceptions because you never know who is going to end up going psycho, but it seems like some common sense could be used here. |

9. everyone gets handcuffed to a table at the police station during questioning
why would they make an exception for anyone?

10. Not that they should make individual exceptions
but it does seem like people brought in for traffic violations with no criminal background aren't much of a threat.
