I saw Lewis Black a few weeks ago live

and was kind of disappointed. I love his thoughts and politics and have seen has various shows on HBO and Youtube over the years. But his live show was...kind of boring. Lots of schtick, blubbering, umming and ahhhing. But it didn't have that bitting content like I've always seen before. Anyone else experience this or is it just me?

On a produced show, they edit out all the ums, pauses, misfires, pieces under construction, etc. FSogol Feb 2016 #5

Well, his name is Black! LOL I love Lewis but I have never seen him live. He's performed here about 15 miles away several times, but I haven't made one of his shows.

The whole "I'm constantly angry" thing is too gimmicky. He's just okay, but probably annoying when listened to for a long time.

In the others he does seem to fall flat to me. He's been doing this for a long time and maybe he's wearing it out?

You are only left with the best of the best on a produced show. That's the difference between live and produced versions. Some people prefer the live show because of authenticity, which is true for music. but not true for most comedy (imo).

But when you saw Carlin live he was always just as good. Of course I'm comparing someone to Carlin...probably not a great idea. LOL.
