Alleged bomb builder shakes up Kern County desert community

snip
Local and federal explosives experts spent four days removing several homemade bombs, incendiary devices and booby traps from Sloan's home and exploding them one after another in the desert outside of town. The explosions were so powerful, some thought the shockwaves might shatter their windows.

snip
According to the Kern County Superior Court case file and The Californian’s investigation, the search warrant was obtained after the Sheriff’s Office was notified that Sloan had been posting threats on Facebook against the Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and federal government buildings.

In one instance, Sloan posted a photo of what he called a “magnet bomb,” and wrote about the possibility of throwing it at a passing gasoline tanker truck. Presumably, the magnet would allow it to attach to the metal skin of the tanker, causing a massive explosion of bomb and gasoline.

Sloan also appeared to express solidarity or sympathy with militia or so-called “sovereign citizen” groups, and mentioned Bundy Ranch, the place owned by the family associated with the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Preserve in Oregon, a standoff that has resulted in a federal grand jury indictment of 16 people.

as long as there is no consequence to the perpetrators. A couple years behind bars will deter no one. These creatures are already imprisoned inside their own minds. Maybe 25 or 30 years would cause them to hesitate.
