Vice President Joe Biden walked his daughter into the St. Joseph on the Brandywine church Saturday, where, in a very private, intimate ceremony, she exchanged vows with a Philadelphia doctor.
Inside the chapelesque church, 200 guests, family and close friends – and a 27-person bridal party – witnessed the union of Ashley Blazer Biden and her groom, Dr. Howard David Krein.
The overall ambiance was as mild as the warm windswept day; low key and well protected by the Secret Service. Details had been hush-hush from the media right up to the big day. From arriving at the church to transporting guests to the reception at the Biden’s home in chateau country, every last detail appeared to be orchestrated flawlessly.
As Biden and his daughter entered the church, they passed a Celtic cross, etched in granite, reminiscent of his Irish upbringing. The couple wed surrounded by arched stained glass windows, brilliant in color against warm vanilla walls and a mahogany ceiling of the historic church.
Father David Murphy, along with Rabbi Joseph Forman, officiated the hour-long ceremony.
