I have been unable to find any American media references to this story. Why?
Maybe I'm just out of the loop but while I knew Israel had nuclear weapons, I didn't know about these nuclear outfitted subs, did you?

This is part of the Samsom Option, essentially MAD in the ME.

Maybe American media has it right...just entertain. Those Germans are way too
informed for their own good.

(154,021 posts)you don't do policy. Take my word on this. We have the proof of concept at RSD. The day I run a policy article, on lets say mass incarceration... it will be a Meh day. I run a piece on fluffy up the tree... break clicks.
Now on a policy level. The Israelis tried to buy LA Class subs from us... we refused to sell them because of what happened with those German Diesels.
If you read the right media (very specialized), you can find this out. Foreign Policy is a good place for example.

I noticed when traveling around Europe that the news sources are MUCH more
sophisticated and comprehensive (ie - they know they have an audience of adults who insist on being
informed). It was a shock. Much more dumbed down here in the states....news for dummies.

(154,021 posts)we are very old fashioned, and run a very local media outlet in San Diego. I have joked with city staff, that the only people who read the damn budget, are the people who wrote it. maybe a member or two of the council, and me. (I mean cover to cover)
Yay, that time is near, when we all get to read the budget.

As to the superbowl, I admit, I am not into sports, well except the game OFF THE FIELD... see Chargers and will they stay or will they go? And should they bend the city to their whims we will see another bankruptcy in 10 years tops.

(2,388 posts)Pentagon budget requests $146 million in support for Israel defense
The U.S. Defense Department's fiscal year 2017 budget requests $145.8 million in support for Israel, including Iron Dome and other cooperative defense programs, according to Pentagon documents released Tuesday.
The Iron Dome system is designed to defeat short-range missiles and rockets. The United States will also continue to help fund David's Sling, a medium-range missile interceptor, set to be deployed this year, as well as the Arrow ballistic missile interceptor.
The systems are meant to form a multi-level shield that the Israelis are developing with Washington's help as a bulwark against Iran and its allies on the Israeli border.
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency's fiscal 2017 budget request included $103.8 million for Israeli cooperative programs, down from $267.6 million in fiscal 2016, plus $42 million for Iron Dome, down from $55 million in fiscal 2016.
