OK, just got a somewhat annoying phone call...

Paul just hung up with a person asking him about voting. Paul explained that we had already voted and they asked who we voted for. Paul said he would not tell them. Then they asked if he at least voted Democrat.

I understand how important this election is, believe me, but I don't think that anyone should be asking who we voted for or if we voted for any particular party affiliation.

1. We vote by secret ballot, if you want to keep it secret it's your right

I really think that's a fundamental matter of respect.

I also understand that the volunteers are into the recall with their hearts and souls. I can imagine as they tire it's possible their emotions can get the better of them.

2. It's their right to try to take a poll, and yours to say bug off. I'm not against polling.

Just people who twist and otherwise misuse them.

Just chalk it up to being tired and cranky. (Hence why I said 'somewhat' annoying.) Been a long few months here at the homestead, you know.

4. I've been deluged with telemarketing calls lately, even though I've been on do-not-call

for years. Lately it doesn't seem to work as well.

And those calls are supremely annoying.

All my callers seemed to have the same story: that supposedly I put my name on some online form. So all of a sudden I was getting offers for every kind of insurance and money lending possible.

I told them that they were breaking the law because I was on do-not-call and they kept insisting that I'd given permission by filling out an online form. (Which I hadn't.)

Anyway, I finally re-registered on do-not-call and now things are quieter again.

11. Could someone with a grudge have put your name on some lists?

That happened to me before the internet - a guy I had a conflict with filled out cards at the fair for every weird product known to farmers. Most of the companies quit after one call, but it took five years for the bee balm crackpots to stop calling me - and then only because I threatened them with charges of telephone harassment!

13. I've wondered about that because I've been writing LTE's about marriage equality.

And this happened afterwards. I can't think of anyone I actually know who would have a grudge, but maybe some stranger could.

I'm getting texts. Today I got one telling me how I won a $1000 gift card to Best Buy. Riiiiiight.

If so, could well be the Democrats trying to determine where early turnout is up or down, and where they need to concentrate their GOTV efforts. your choice to not tell them, but why are you complaining to us?

Political board. Political call. Seemed like a good place.

And, as I said, it's probably just me. Tired and cranky and ready for Walker to be out the door.

15. It's the phone bank's way of conducting an exit poll.

Which are the most accurate polls out there and why they can 'project' the winners. It used to be before Bush was selected by the Supreme Court after his family and campaign stole the election that everyone knew the exit polls have been invariably correct as long as they've been taken. The exit polls during the 2000 election was won by Al Gore who later was proved to have won the election. After that the media 'decided' that exit polls were no good. I wonder why. Don't you?

It's not just some idle question. It's a statistical gathering of pertinent information which shows not only how much votes an candidate is getting, but what percentage of party affiliates are voting. As well as other things, such as what income demographics are voting for whom and what percentage of party affiliates are voting for whom. There's a wealth of information that is garnered by exit polls.
