This is rich. "Snyder said he's going to let science drive decisions

and he's still waiting to hear from experts on whether damaged pipes can be repaired."

If he HAD let science drive decisions, like treating the water BEFORE it went through the pipes, Flint wouldn't be a toxic nightmare, right now!

FLINT (WJRT) - (01/27/16) - Governor Rick Snyder visited Flint on Wednesday to talk about the city's water emergency and how he's working to resolve issues.

Snyder said he's going to let science drive decisions, and he's still waiting to hear from experts on whether damaged pipes can be repaired.

"Our goal is to get the water coming out of the tap safe (and) as soon as possible," Snyder said.

But the governor couldn't give a time-frame.

"That will be based on third party experts saying the water's safe," Snyder said.

The state's top leader said normal usage could resume if damaged pipes are able to heal or be "recoated" with help from corrosion controls like phosphates.

It's something the city didn't have in place while it was connected to river water. But it's something they put into motion in December with the return to the Detroit water system.

"Longer-term we are doing this mapping to look at the infrastructure issues... where the lead pipes are and how to prioritize looking at the issues of replacement," Snyder said.

ABC12's Damon Maloney asked the governor if it makes sense to repair old, lead pipes and service lines given the fact that they have potential to leach and are pipes many will never trust again.

Snyder responded by saying, "There are lead pipes in many water systems in the state in this country that are properly coated- longer-term I think everyone understands we'd like to see those pipes replaced. So it's a combination of both those activities."

Flint Mayor Dr. Karen Weaver has said that replacing the city's water infrastructure could cost up to a billion dollars. Weaver said she's not done fighting to get more money and resources for the people of Flint.

"I appreciate the federal government stepping up but this does not replace the state's stepping up and giving the funds for our residents to fix this issue," Weaver said.

Snyder said an executive office will be setup in Flint and the Lt. Governor, Brian Calley, will be spending a lot of time in the city.

Snyder said he will continue to make frequent trips to the city.

I never gave it a thought that things like house plumbing, water heaters, refrigerators that have water in the door service, all things like that have also been damaged, maybe beyond repair. How awful.

Is it REMOTELY POSSIBLE the people of Michigan would reelect Snyder?

Flint is a strongly Democratic region of the state.

And fortunately, Snyder is termed out from running for Governor, and now I fully believe any future political aspirations are dead, dead, dead. Dead by lead poisoning.

even voted NO on throwing him out of office! I remember that! I live in Ga. and I sent money to kick him out. If I saw how insane he was, WHY didn't the people in Mich. ???? I'm sure the people of Flint are smarter than that, but what's wrong with the rest oof the STATE?

But so many people vote against their best interest because they are delusional about their own reality.

I do think that no matter what else happens, Snyder is going to be done, politically.

And he is REALLY starting to reek of desperation.

Traditionally, Wayne County (Detroit), Genessee County (Flint), and Iron County (in the mining region) voted "blue" and the other 80 counties voted "red". Macomb County and Oakland County have become more "purple". over the last thirty years.

Which makes statewide elections competitive. Most of the state in area is red and rural.

The more that comes out, like how they were supplying state workers in Flint with purified water, while still denying anything was wrong, the more hopeful I am that Snyder and his minions will be held to serious account for what they've done to Flint.
