OMGosh someone threw a tomato at tRump after he called Bernie a communist!!!!!
Donald Trump faced a tough crowd last night in Iowa City, leaving the stage early after constant boos, whistles, and even tomatoes thrown by protesters.
The tomatoes were thrown after the billionaire Republican front-runner called Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders a communist, according to Daily Iowan reporter Brent Griffiths. You can see the two tomatoes flying toward Trump in the first 10 seconds of this video: http://usuncut.com/politics/man-throws-tomato-at-donald-trump/ ![]() ![]() ![]()

11. The music thing is complicated.
When Can Campaigns Use Music?
To use music in advertisements (television and internet), a campaign needs to receive legal permission from both the song’s publisher and the artist’s record label. The use of music at a live campaign event requires a “public performance” license, generally attained from one of the United States’ performing rights organizations. These organizations track the use of music and help distribute royalties from such events. Technically, campaigns do not need to receive explicit permission from the artist to use their work, but it should be noted that even if a politician has all the requisite legal permissions the artist can still sue the campaign. The author(s) could make a claim to their “Right of Publicity,” which is a legal protection many states give celebrities and artists. The right of publicity generally protects the use of someone’s name and likeness for commercial reasons. However, this right is not yet nationally recognized. On the federal level, the Lanham Act protects an artist’s trademark or brand by offering protection against false endorsement in which the use of an artist’s work can imply the artist’s support. Politicians and their campaigns also need to acquire proper licensing from the publisher, record label, and venue. What About Fair Use? One of the most crucial pieces of U.S. copyright law, created to ensure the protection of free speech, is the doctrine of fair use. Fair use is defined as the copying of copyrighted material done for a “limited and ‘transformative’ purpose,” which may legally be done without the artist’s or license holder’s. However, fair use is loosely defined and limited by various court decisions. http://lawstreetmedia.com/issues/politics/campaign-music-fair-use/ |

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/iowa-football-players-endorse-trump-at-rally--join-him-on-stage-165637361.html
Several Iowa football players, including quarterback C.J. Beathard, were at a rally supporting Presidential candidate Donald Trump at the University of Iowa on Tuesday night.
The players were on stage prior to Trump’s arrival, tossing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” caps into the crowd and telling rallygoers to vote for Trump. Sophomore tight end Peter Pekar held up a black and gold Iowa jersey with a No. 1 and Trump’s name on the back. After Trump arrived at the event, he called the players on stage and was especially glowing about Beathard. “We’ve got the next Tom Brady right over here,” Trump said. “The quarterback, he’s gonna be the next Tom Brady. And I know Tom and he’s a great guy.” ![]() ![]() |

Trump's popularity is a two edged sword. He inspires fierce passion in those ho like him, and equally fierce passion in those who dislike him. So far, he has not said or done anything to appeal to anyone but the right-most Republicans, and he would lose by a wide margin in the general election. The GOP will have to figure out a way to derail him pretty soon.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind hurling one myself, but common sense assumes the assailant wasn't standing in the crowd munching on a fresh tomato and snapped when Trump insulted Sanders. The protester brought tomatoes with sole intent to toss them regardless of what Trump had to say.
The headline misleadingly implies that one event must have led to the other. No one knows who the protester supports, it just wasn't Trump. |
