If the majority of people believe something, it must be true.

If they believe it, it must be true. Joseph Smith proved that. Get someone to believe you and spread your BS around and it becomes real, even if it's a made-up fantasy or mental illness episode.

"How do you think religion propagates?"

As well as money, which seems something almost every American, even the most hip, more-clever-than-thou skeptic seems to place great reliance on and faith in; even if it is a made-up fantasy...

Hence, some made-up fantasies are more rational to believe in, and thus exempt from the clever appellation of 'magic thinking,' but I suppose which is which is anyone's guess.
