[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I'll catch the highlights afterwards or tomorrow - but I'll definitely skip the GOP response, which is always a waste of time and bad for my blood pressure.

where the President gave his account to Congress in writing and there it was read to the assembled body in as dispassionate a voice as possible by the Sergeant at Arms.

The intent was to avoid the "regal" appearance and attitude engendered by the Executive's attendance and the accompanying fawning.

And let's do away with the rebuttals. The Constitution requires the President to give an account to Congress "from time to time." It says nothing about other blowhards chiming in with assorted nonsense words and nonsensical acts.

I haven't always agreed with him but...I've never completely agreed with anyone. He has been a great president and I will never regret voting for him...twice. I fully expect to shed a tear or twenty tonight.

The first US black President giving his final SOTU... yeah, that's a big fucking deal.

I maybe haven't agreed with him always, but I sure as hell respect the man AND my goodness, what an amazing First Lady Michelle Obama has been.

I will miss this First Family.
