I can see it. Supposedly a lot of the fans of The Apprentice want him for president. He's a "strong leader."

What I don't see is Trump choosing a strong VEEP. He'll want an unthreatening sycophant. A really good ass-kissing schmoozer.

Cruz was supposed to be a real possibility. I'm guessing Cruz probably burned this bridge for good, though, when he moved on from kissing up to trying to dethrone the king. Besides, what president could sleep soundly with Cruz just a heartbeat from the Oval Office?

Susana La Tejana's grandparents came to this country from there. I have no idea if she herself speaks Spanish but that language is not only widely spoken here but even more widely understood. I took three semesters of college Spanish back in the '90s, and was about as good as you might expect from that amount of study. For about eight months after I moved here I worked outpatient registration at the local hospital, and my passive Spanish got REALLY good. My active Spanish also improved a great deal.

However, never make the mistake of assuming that someone with a Hispanic surname or appearance actually speaks the language. Just like any other immigrant group succeeding generations tend to lose the original language they came here with. In NM Spanish has been retained somewhat longer simply because of the concentration and constant influx of Spanish language speakers. Almost any job where you'd deal with the public, it helps a great deal to speak the language, and there are jobs for which it is required.

added on edit: no one here would call her crazy mama. Susana La Loca, maybe. The other really does sound offensive, even though I don't care for her at all.

She would lend an "internationalist" vibe to the hyper-domestic Trump.

While she is likely smarter than he is, she is no less delusional when it comes to ideology. And she knows how the game is played.

Sure, brilliant, accomplished women like Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton do what they can to use their position to accomplish worthwhile goals, but their talents and skills are not allowed to be fully used while they are First Lady. Melania prefers not to stand in the spotlight with the Donald, so I bet that if he were president she would be glad to let Ivanka play WH hostess and spokesmodel.

Official Member Of Trump Campaign Joins Oregon Militia
by Alan Pyke Jan 7, 2016

The co-chairman of Donald Trump’s New Hampshire “Veterans for Trump” group has arrived in Burns, Oregon, to assist the small cadre of armed men who are seeking to provoke a standoff with federal officials there.

That not-quite-standoff began over the weekend when a handful of men led by Ammon Bundy decided to turn a much larger peaceful protest over a decision to send two ranchers back to jail for arson into an armed struggle. The group’s numbers are small – especially compared to the 300 who reportedly joined the peaceful protest of the re-sentencing – but they have now been reinforced by Jerry DeLemus, a former United States Marine living on the opposite side of the country.

Trump himself has said little about the situation in Oregon, following the pattern of most of the GOP primary candidates. But on Tuesday he seemed to tell The Hill it was time for the Bundy crew to pack it in and go home. “You have to maintain law and order, no matter what,” he said.

It is at least the second time DeLemus has ridden to the physical aid of a Bundy. When Ammon’s father Cliven had his cattle impounded by the Bureau of Land Management in 2014 over more than $1 million in unpaid fines and fees for his use of public lands, DeLemus and his son drove 41 hours in three days to come help. ....

Mon Jan 11, 2016, 03:11 PM
Jan 2016

Face it - it's painfully obvious that he has no real grasp of issues foreign or domestic, instead relying entirely on fiery rhetoric intended to twist the knobs of the Angry White Right.

If the horror were to unfold that he went on to win the nomination and the general (which I don't see as completely impossible), he would have to surround himself with advisers with some real-world knowledge and experience, not someone who claps deliriously whenever Dear Leader speaks. But having a staffer or a Veep who is inclined to tap him on the shoulder with a correction when he suggests that melanin detectors for TSA checkpoints would be a good thing, probably isn't going to go over real well.

So he isn't going to choose a Palin or Bachmann, but you can likely count out Jeb or Kasich as well. He would be most comfortable with someone who can provide some competent support while doing so in a low key, behind the scenes manner, letting The Toupee take all the credit.
