I've started a petition on Whitehouse.gov to get emergency water aid to the people of Flint Michigan as soon as possible.
Please sign it and pass it around as much as possible. If nothing else, maybe it will draw more attention to the issue and make the Michigan state government do something to help their own citizens.
This is how so many issues can be tied to income inequality. This is an economically depressed area and people and therefore little to no effort is being made to help them. This is how income inequality kills, cripples and casts shadows over people's lives that never fade away.
These children in Flint will have to live with the mismanagement and incompetence of Rick Synder for the rest of their lives. This mistake can never be fixed for them. At very least we should try to get them clean water to drink now and get them back on a clean water system again. Please sign the petition.

(10,362 posts)Christ. Between these stories and the ones about Detroit, it sounds like a third world country. No clean water in a US city? WTF?
Not to mention all those videos of fracking states with burning water coming out of the faucet. Something went badly wrong in this country.
