James Tracy, the Florida Atlantic University communications professor who claimed the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre was fake and publicly quarreled with the parents of one of the slain children, was officially fired on Tuesday.

1. Accomplished without intervention from the governor or the state legislature. Amazing.

He has an appeal process open to him. We'll see if he takes it. It will be totally confidential (i.e., no big press coverage), so I doubt he'll go that route.

3. Some CTers I will never understand

I mean the moon landing? Well I suppose you could conceive of a decade or more of launching empty rockets and paying patsies to say they were inside them, culminating in a carefully crafted soiundstage re-enacment by more patsies faking the lunar surface, all to be able to cock a snoot at the Russians. If you are nuts that is.

But 20 kids being shot? Is the idea that the kids never existed and that their parents were paid to raise child actors for years? Or that the kids really did exist but that government agents killed them? I would imagine that was a lively briefing session. ("You want me to do what exactly?&quot And to what end? To pass sweeping gun regulations that were never seriously attempted? Bit of an omission from that dastardly plan eh?
