During winter, they took over an unoccupied building out in the middle of nowhere. They currently pose a threat to no one. Let them sit there but in the meantime, let's identify and ridicule them. Make their faces known to everyone.

Ridiculing them in the process is perfectly acceptable, though.

3. Agreed...but it's largely an indirect threat.

They might shoot at an antelope for food, but right now, the large majority of the refuge's population is elsewhere. It's mostly a migratory bird sanctuary, and they're wintering. My worry is that they'll start shooting at people (or someone on the other side will get trigger happy, for that matter), and the facility will be destroyed in the fighting. That's where I'd say the real danger to wildlife lies: that facility is the center of operations on the refuge, and as we get closer to migration season, I'm sure there's lots of work to be done. A lot of that work might not get done if the refuge HQ is destroyed.

Plus, the facility is largely composed of lovely old stone buildings made decades ago by the CCC. Part of Oregon heritage and a piece of the fruit of early US socialism! Seeing them destroyed because of these louts would be heartbreaking.

However I bet conservation is the furthest thing from their tiny minds. They WANT an armed conflict and the LEO won't give it to them!

Bundy explicitely stated that there will be violence if the authorities try to get them out of the buildings. Thats a direct threat.

Furthermore they are trespassing on federal property and this alone is enough for justifying their arrest.
