Wisconsin Governor Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will face off tonight in the second—and final—debate of the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election campaign.

Barrett, the labor-backed Democrat who seeks to oust Walker, wanted more debates.

Walker, the controversial governor whose draconian budget measures inspired mass protests last year, did not. In fact, in the first debate last week, Walker was barely present—declining to participate in a segment where the candidates were to ask one another questions, failing to respond to challenges from his opponent or questions from journalists on the panel.

Why is Walker so disinclined to debate? Apparently, the Republican governor, who has raised $31 million to $3.9 million ..........

An ongoing criminal investigation continues to grab the spotlight in the final days leading up to Tuesday’s gubernatorial recall election.

With six days left before voters decide between Gov. Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, a series of seemingly unrelated documents -- campaign finance reports and a number of polls -- have shed new light onto the two-year-old Milwaukee County John Doe investigation ..... t Walker had transferred $100,000 from his campaign account to a criminal defense fund. ... $160,000 in the past six weeks ....

Walker did, however, set the record straight on the campaign trail Wednesday, telling reporters from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and elsewhere that the money in his legal defense fund was not being used to pay the legal bills for his former aides facing criminal charges .....

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is diverting campaign donations to bankroll his legal defense fund. .....

The three-year long investigation is targeting Walker employees who may have committed a host of corrupt activities — accusations include embezzlement, coercion, and use of taxpayer funds for campaign work. According to the Huffington Post, “Mike Tate, the chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, says state law permits Walker to set up such a fund only if he is charged or under investigation for election or campaign violations.” .....

.... The Governor is required by law to have donors sign off on a transfer of funds, but the Walker campaign will not reveal who those people are ...........
