Iraq says: "We've had enough of your 'help' already."

In response to the U.S. military's offer to give Iraq Apache attack helicopters and accompanying advisers to assist them in liberating Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, Iraqi government officials have declined, sighting negative impact yet more American military presence would have on the people of Iraq. Though the rejection was couched in diplomatic language, there is little doubt the sentiment behind it is one of, "No thanks, you've done enough damage."

Thanks But No Thanks: Iraq Rejects US Attack Helicopters in Ramadi Fight

The Pentagon indicated that the US would be willing to supply Iraq with attack helicopters to help combat terrorism, but the Iraqi government has respectfully declined the offer. Last week, the US announced plans to give the Iraqi Army a fleet of Apache attack helicopters to be used in Baghdad’s fight against Daesh, also known as ISIL/the Islamic State.

The United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi Army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job, including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers, if circumstances dictate and if requested by Prime Minister Abadi," US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter stated in an address before the Senate Armed Services Committee last week. But after a Wednesday meeting between US and Iraqi officials, Baghdad appears uninterested in the aircraft package.

Earlier this month, the Iraqi government criticized a Pentagon plan to deploy additional troops to Iraq, stressing that an increased American presence could only harm Baghdad’s anti-terror effort.

"First, it will lead to a split among Iraqis, and so the division of their positions in fighting Daesh," Ammar Tu’ma, Iraqi lawmaker and leader of the Al-Fadhila Party, told Sputnik. "Second, it will empower the terrorist organizations – the number of young people in their ranks will increase. The young people will fight foreign forces, [as] invaders on their lands. Hence, I think that [such a decision] would bring more problems than solutions."

1. Good. Now we should completely leave.

It's bad enough we went but when they say go. Let's go. We can spend our money here.

9. But then our generals won't be able to live in palaces, like monarchs . . .

And they won't be able to exercise their life-and-death power over thousands of troops (unless, of course, we find them another war to exploit).

4. But Hillary Clinton says:

"we have to make clear to the Iraqis that they have been given the greatest gift that a human being can give another human being – the gift of freedom. And it is up to them to decide how they will use that precious gift that has been paid for with the blood and sacrifice and treasure of the United States of America."

What a bunch of ungrateful wretches!!
Just like those Libyans, Syrians, and ... oh, I just can't wait for when she's CiC!!

20. I can't help but sneer

when I hear that sort of bizarro-world crap coming from US political leaders. US citizens, for the most part, exist in a false reality, absolutely incapable of drawing rational conclusions about world events.

Imagine, the ingrates, they were supposed to be there with flowers, too, and they messed that up.

Surely they'll learn to love democracy and freedom if we bomb them more and occupy their county longer.

16. 30+ Iraqi soldiers killed, 20 injured after US airstrike - Iraqi MP

More than 30 Iraqi soldiers have been killed and 20 more injured in an airstrike carried out by the US military, an Iraqi said in a statement cited by Sputnik.

“30 Iraqi servicemen from the 55th brigade of the Iraqi Army have been killed and 20 injured after an airstrike carried out by US aviation in the town of Al-Naimiya, Fallujah province,” Hakim al-Zamili, the head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, said in a statement cited by Sputnik.

The death toll may rise as many Iraqi soldiers were heavily injured in the attack, the official said.

Al-Zamili said he called upon the Iraqi prime minister “to carry out an immediate investigation into the airstrike on the 55th brigade that earlier achieved success in battling” Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) militants.

It sure won't help matters a bit.

If we knew who we were hitting it is criminal. If we did not know who we were hitting, it is still nearly as bad.

If he is elected, and really acts on his many threats, most of his extremely brief Presidency will be spent in a fall-out shelter.
