Child raising tips not in the books:

Not having a sitter, I always took my young, well behaved kids with me when I went to donate blood. The Red Cross volunteers in my small town were glad to keep an eye on the kids and feed them chopped ham sandwiches and cookies.

The result? Now my kids who are eligible give blood as often as they can.
