Mental illness, mental illness, mental illness

Did anyone else catch a bit of Paul Ryan on MoJo today?'

I wanted to hurl a brick through the TV...the asshat started off on gun violence with "mental illness..." is basically the cause. OMG...please someone tell me how often a mass murder/terrorist has effectively used the mental illness defense.

Then Ryan goes into a total spin about balancing the rights of citizens to have guns against curbing this violence. Hear this Ryan:

I think that the RIGHT TO LIVE wins over having the equipment to massacre people!

If one has to be mentally ill to murder with a gun, then we could not in the US convict anyone of a murder charge if a gun were involved. That is the Repuke "logic" carried to its conclusion.

Sooooooooo, yep, change the law: Using a gun to effectuate a homicide is a element of the insanity defense!

The immediate issue is LEGAL public access to military grade weapons, including semi-automatic assault rifles ("that can be easily converted to automatic!&quot and large capacity clips.

NRA and the gun manufacturers who run the Org pay Paul Ryan handsomely to talk away from that. Otherwise, it will cut into their profits and the agenda of those who can afford to buy protection from such criminality.

IMO, as I watched Ryan this a.m., it appeared to me he was kissing NRA and gun manufacturing butt. He kept bringing it back to mental illness, etc. He did at one time say that the "present" gun laws should be enforced -- like that is the solution to what you point out in your post. The present gun laws allow for this kind of violent equipment to be legally owned and held.

Ronnie Raygun...attacking those who could least defend themselves. You know, IMO, karma sometimes hits those who harm the vulnerable.

When Raygun was CA governor, Ronnie built a governor's bazillion $$$$ new governor's mansion, but turned out the mentally ill on the streets by closing the day care centers and other insitutions. And Raygun's last illness is one of the most devastating of all known to mankind.

Raygun was an evil, nasty man...I would NEVER wish upon him what happened to him in his last days. He did however vest upon those suffering mental problems and illnesses the denial of treatment and care.
