OBAMA: "I知 anticipating a Democrat succeeding me - I知 confident in wisdom of the American people"

A reporter asked:

典o put a finer point on the climate change question, can leaders gathered here believe that the United States will keep its commitments even after you致e left office, if a Republican succeeds you in the White House?

He said:

笛ust with respect to my successor, let me first of all say that I知 anticipating a Democrat succeeding me. I知 confident in the wisdom of the American people on that front.

However, Obama did say that if 都omebody from a different party happens to succeed him, they will learn it isn稚 all daydreams and unicorns in how to get things done. He said:

釘ut even if somebody from a different party succeeded me, one of the things that you find is when you池e in this job, you think about it differently than when you池e just running for the job. What you realize is what I mentioned earlier, that American leadership involves not just playing to narrow constituencies back home, but you are now at the center of what happens around the world.

.........

Needless to say, the president seems very confident that the American people will choose what痴 best for the nation, and that is electing a Democrat to continue our progress forward.

The thought of anybody in the GOP primary circus sitting in the Oval Office is laughable!

However, Democrats win when Democrats VOTE!

36. we underestimate them at our peril

ANY of the douchebags running for the GOP nomination will be extremely dangerous in the general election.
regardless of who it is, they will have an amazing amount of funding to work with, from multiple sources, for multiple purposes.
they are ALL automatically lined up to get at least 40% of the popular vote and over 100 locked up electoral votes.
they have a 24/7 propaganda machine laughingly called "news" and complete dominance over the AM radio spectrum.

the Democratic candidate has certain advantages going into the race, but that person won't have ALL the advantages. it's not going to be a cakewalk for anyone.

42. What you are saying is don't underestimate the powers that prop up the clowns.

That's a huge distinction, the idiots for candidates, and the very powerful and not equally lame financial interests promoting and paying the tab for the clown herd.

43. a clown within the GOP power structure can be a powerful clown indeed

attribute the threat as you like, to the bobble heads spouting horseshit on TV or the shady power brokers who underwrite their viciously ridiculous campaigns of hate.

just remember, one of those idiot candidates actually could be our next president, and that is no laughing matter.

3. Just being a Democrat isn't good enough for me.

Only a Democrat that embraces the New Deal will suffice for me.

Win, lose, or draw, I will write in the proper name regardless of who the nominee is. Further, I will encourage all I know to do the same. Give me a poor choice and I will help give you the supreme court you despise. Time for me to perform the extortion instead of being extorted, victimized, with the "lesser of two evils".

Deal with it.

39. Same here, since Eugene McCarthy ran for president in 1968.

If I stayed home in a snit every time one of my candidates didn't make it out of the primaries, I'd be a nonentity with no right to bitch about the results.

22. We already went through this 15 yrs ago. Ask President Nader how that worked out.

The old RW lie that there's no difference between the two parties is exactly that - an old RW lie. Refusing to support your allies just because Evil says those allies are "the lesser of two evils" only leaves Evil in charge.

If we "already went through this" you'd think the party would have learned it's lesson by now.

I mean, I know Republicans are basically running for fire chief on a "no more hydrants" platform, but I don't think our democracy will allow the crazy to get that far into fucking up our future.

Until Bush, the lesser got elected - I was sure of the same - that americans would vote for the best candidate.. Not anymore - sorry, you collectively burned it badly when US managed to "elect" Bush jr, not once - but twice, as he had proven himself to be less than good in the art of international diplomacy and politic...

I fear - if one of the republicans got elected - and it does not matter who they are, Trump, Carson, Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina - or some of the other, less plausible candidates, like little brother Bush the lesser... A war would emerge before 18 mounts was over - a war who would do horrible damage not just against the country, or countries the US deiced to attack - but to the world at large.. A Republican candidate in the White House - would mean World War tree - no less... And that would mean millions and millions of dead people, all over the world - including the United States..

32. I'll have to see it to believe it

The midterms were disheartening to say the least.

Showing up doesn't seen to interest the traditional Dem voting base much, and young voters at all, and I fear Clinton's image is just too tarnished - undeservedly. Even though she's clearly up to the task and we need a woman as president yesterday. Look at the hatred for her that's thrown about at DU every day.

I don't have a lot of remaining confidence in the wisdom of the American public, if I ever did. The lure of Fascism is on bright display.
