Have you ever read Ray Bradbury's 'A Sound of Thunder'?

People go back in time to hunt a dinosaur, hunter gets scared and steps off the path, and when they go back to the present, the world is a lot dumber and a fascist won the election and it's proven with this quote...

"You joking? You know very well. Deutscher (the fascist), of course! Who else? Not that fool weakling Keith. We got an iron man now, a man with guts!"

All because the hunter stepped on a butterfly when he got scared.

You can read the story here if you are interested.

Now, how is it that we have gone to the Moon and eradicated smallpox, and THIS is one of the latest chain emails making the rounds?

If you can't see the similarity between the quote above and this email, then you aren't paying attention.

So it has to be asked, who went back to what time and stepped on what creature?

Ray Bradbury Theater shows. You have made my day Fumesucker. I've read all his stories years ago and this one in particular always stuck with me.

Thank you, thank you.

... that chain email is three years old. It's just weird the way the writer makes a point of denigrating the constitution.

The parallels to the Bradbury story really just show us that we've been here before. There are always people who feel that "strength" is their only value, and the way to prove your strength is to hurt others.

Either X Minus 1 or one of the other weekly scifi drama programs. These are actually pretty damned good. If you ever get a chance to listen to one, do it.

A Sound of Thunder was one of the better ones.
