Christian Homeschooling Parents Abused, Starved And Imprisoned Child Because God
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/11/12/christian-homeschooling-parents-abused-starved-and-imprisoned-child-because-god-video/
On Tuesday, the adopted daughter of a Butler County, Georgia couple testified about the horrific abuse she endured during the six years she spent in the custody of Diana and Samuel Franklin.
The victim, whose name has not been released to the press, was adopted by the couple at the age of nine. She did not attend public school, but was ‘homeschooled’ by the couple, under the state of Georgia’s very lax homeschooling laws.... According to a neighbor, who spoke with the press shortly after the girl was removed from the Franklins’ custody, the couple withheld food from their adopted daughter based on their interpretation of 2 Thessalonians 3:10, which says in part, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”... During her testimony, the victim described being locked in various outbuildings on the family’s property when she was menstruating. She was allowed to wear only a shirt, and no under garments during this time. ![]()

3. Depraved, but why not "Republican Parents Abused ..."
They probably are Republican, aren't they?
Here's why not: because this is not about party affiliation, is it? This is not really about Christianity. This is not about adoption. This is not about Georgia. This is not about homeschooling. The headline tries to splatter blame beyond the depraved parents, but it's not about that stuff, really. My Republican acquaintances are not sullied by these people's acts. My Christian neighbors are not sullied by these people's acts. My adopting family members are not sullied by these people's acts. My Georgian in-laws are not sullied by these people's acts. My homeschooling fellows are not sullied by these people's acts. This abuse is about failing as humans and as parents. Let's be sure the blame is directed where it belongs: at bad parents and bad humans. If they're guilty make them suffer the full consequences for their crimes; the other stuff is irrelevant innuendo. End of rant. And now: back to your regularly scheduled primary campaigns. |

9. funny how many fundie xians do seem to be responsible for these kinds of heinous acts, though.
remember the sick, twisted fundies who beat one of their sons to death, and nearly did so to the younger one? that was just a couple of weeks ago.

4. No surprise.
Why does this society automatically grant the status of "sane" to people who are obviously madder than hatters just because they can gibber out 'jebus" or "gawwwd" as a justification for their obvious insanity? Religulous idiocy is often a get out of jail free card for damn near anything short of murder. That has GOT to END.

7. Horrible.
Their grown sons sat and watched as they forced her to dig ditches in the hot sun. Shock collars, beatings ... she is very lucky to have made it out alive.
The poor girl probably thought/hoped she was going to a good home. |

11. Sadly this is somewhat like Chuck Shepherd's "no longer weird" section
Religious extremists torture and kill their kids with too depressing a regularity.
